Police arrest suspect in viral bloody beating at pizza shop and charge her with assault and kidnapping

Police have arrested a 25-year-old woman for allegedly beating a woman in front of her child at a pizza shop in Augusta, Georgia. Video of the bloody altercation went viral with millions of views on social media.

The Richmond County Sheriff's Office said that Brittany Breann Kennedy was arrested on Tuesday and charged with aggravated assault, kidnapping, and second-degree criminal damage to property.

The video shows 22-year-old Emily Broadwater at the Little Caesars pizza shop being beaten badly while her daughter tries to help her. The video continues to capture the attacker dragging Broadwater by her hair and stomping on the victim's head twice.

Initially the motivation for the attack was unknown, but some details in the case have surfaced since May 17, the day of the altercation.

The Daily Mail reported that Broadwater claimed in a post on Facebook that Kennedy had targeted her after she spent time with Kennedy's husband while Kennedy was in jail for a separate offense.

"All I did was help a friend out with his kids while his baby mama was locked up. She has been harassing me for weeks now," Broadwater said in the post.

"All I'm saying is that I never caused any harm to her or her property or her children like she had mine. Now imma go back to living my life and taking care of my daughter," she added, according to the Daily Mail.

Broadwater told police that she had had issues with Kennedy for a long time prior to the assault and that she was a suspect in another incident where Broadwater was the victim.

Police said they made her arrest a priority after the video went viral.
